Parent Education Speakers

  • Every year, Foothill Country Day School hosts speakers who share their expertise and provide important insights on a variety of topics of interest to parents of K-8 students. Previous speakers have included psychologist and author Dr. Wendy Mogel, author of The Blessing of a Skinned Knee and The Blessing of a B Minus, and Dr. Robin Berman, a psychiatrist and author, who shared her book Permission to Parent with the audience, and Dr. Jean Twenge, author of iGen:Why Today's Super-Connected Kids are Growing Up Less Rebellious, More Tolerant, Less Happy--and Completely Unprepared for Adulthood, and Jen Cote, M.A., Program Director of ChallengeSuccess, a program out of Stanford University's Graduate School of Education.  Last year we featured webinars with Dr. Tina Bryson of the Center for Connection presenting "Answers to Your Most Pressing Questions About Parenting through the Pandemic" and Dr. Devorah Heitner, author of Screenwise: Helping Kids Thrive in Their Digital World.

The 2022-2023 school year opens with a member of our own parent community, Dr. Kendall Bronk (Lane, 7th). Dr. Bronk heads the Adolescent Moral Development Lab where her research delves into the ways young people discover their purpose. We invite current parents, prospective families and guests to join us live, and learn what scientific research has to say about how you can help your child thrive!
