Celebrating 70
We are excited to be celebrating 70 years of providing an excellent education. As the decades have gone by, we have noticed that our alumni tend to become leaders in whatever they choose to pursue. That revelation has guided our 70th celebration.
Fresh Falcon Look
We have a new school logo for the 70th year. This falcon is a bit more contemporary, and being in-flight suggests the confidence and strength of our students. The new logo includes our traditional school colors of blue and gold, but also incorporates red, in an effort to bring The Seedling School under our wing, with their traditional color. The circular shape of the logo is an homage to our heritage logo which was created in a student contest by artist Tony Sheets when he was a student here at Foothill.
EventsWe kicked off the parties with an old-school birthday party at the Fall Family Event. This event included all things "birthday" including cake, ice cream, jumpers, and of course, the Foothill tradition of singing Happy Birthday. Other events throughout the year will celebrate the 70th including a Student Council 70s Day for the 70th day of school, and Field Day and Art Walk which will have the theme of Run for the Roses, a nod to Determine.
Art for the Sky
In September 2024, the school hosted a unique interactive "Art for the Sky" experience, led by renowned artist Daniel Dancer. This large-scale, collaborative art project brought the entire school community together in a breathtaking display of creativity, unity and environmental awareness. Mr. Dancer had a three-day residency with our students, teaching them about the interconnectedness of humanity and environmental sustainability. As the culminating event, all of our students, faculty and staff came together to form a giant living image on the Jeff Nelson Field. This unique experience not only created an unforgettable memory for our students but also symbolizes the power of collective creativity and the 30,000 foot view needed for the next generation of society's leaders.
We invite you to watch a video about how we created the art here:
