All applications for admission to Foothill must be submitted online. Prospective families are asked to visit the Admissions website as early as possible in order to become familiar with the application process, requirements and timelines.

Absolutely! We invite and encourage all families interested in learning more about Foothill to call the Office of Admissions to schedule a time for a visit and tour. We host a series of on-campus tours events throughout the year. Please refer to Visit Us for more information.

Although most of our students are 5 years old at the start of the school year, we evaluate our applicants based on kindergarten readiness, not an age specific deadline. We also have a two-year transitional kindergarten (TK) program for children who would benefit from an additional year between preschool and kindergarten.

Foothill does not accept applications from international students and is not able to offer, process, or assist in the procurement of student visas (Form I-20).

The number of new students who apply and are admitted to Foothill annually vary, but on average, we enroll approximately 36 kindergarten students, and 1-2 new students in each grade. These numbers are approximate and are not a guarantee of the number of seats available to new students.

Families are able to drop students off in the morning at 7:30a.m. and we provide after school care till 6:00p.m. Foothill offers both Extended Day Care and a variety of Enrichment Classes. Read more about that on the After School page.

Wherever they want! Foothill students are well prepared to attend the school of their choice. The Class of 2024 were accepted to 20 different high schools from around the country.  Need examples? Notification letters for admission and enrollment for the 2025-2026 school year will be emailed on March 14, 2025. After that time, decisions will be made on an individual basis after all admissions items are received.   

Foothill often has more qualified applicants than open seats in each class. The wait list consists of a small group of students for each grade who would be appropriate for Foothill but cannot be initially accepted. The waiting list for each grade is unranked; should space become available, all applicants for the space to be filled will be considered. Students are not admitted during the school year. The Admission Office makes every effort to contact families on the waiting list who are eligible for consideration should changes occur.

There is no typical award amount, as families are evaluated individually. Financial assistance packages range from $1,000 to a significant portion of tuition. Financial assistance does not cover fees.

The financial assistance committee, composed of senior administrators, maintains strict confidentiality over financial aid files. Only those who are directly involved in the decision-making and administration of financial assistance have access to the information. Confidentiality is required of all aid recipient families, as well.

While Foothill recognizes the challenges involved in these situations, it is expected that all family resources will be committed to the child’s education. Both custodial and non-custodial parents are required to complete financial assistance applications and submit all necessary documentations.

Foothill does give consideration to other tuitions being paid by a family, but only to the extent equal to Foothill’s tuition.

All of Foothill’s financial assistance awards are based strictly on demonstrated need. Priority is given to current families. Foothill does not give scholarships for special talents or academic merit. Although family income level is a significant consideration, many other factors are considered in the decision-making process. These factors include, but are not limited to: the number of children attending schools for which tuition is paid, other family dependents, assets and liabilities, unusual expenses, etc. The school will learn of these special considerations from the information provided on the financial assistance application and on any other supplemental information that families provide.
