In fourth grade, we study American history. As part of our curriculum, we bring history to life in a three hour "Walk Through the Revolution" program. Students are assigned to play the roles of various Revolutionary figures, from King George to George Washington. They dress in keeping with their characters and they recite lines about their characters' accomplishments. Three important battles, Lexington/Concord, Trenton, and Yorktown are re-enacted (after the students are given instruction on how to properly load a musket). The day concludes with a quiz game contest as students race to display the facts they have learned.
