September 12, 2010, marks an auspicious date in Foothill Country Day School’s commitment to offer exceptional educational experiences for its dedicated young learners. At the clip of a celebratory blue ribbon, the new beautiful craftsman-style Upper Village building opened its doors to an ebullient gathering of FCDS parents, grandparents, alumni, community leaders, students, and staff all marveled at the beauty and utility of the new 2-story, 15,000 square-foot building. The crowds meandered through the atrium koi-pond garden, toured impressive classroom and public areas, and enjoyed the view of new basketball courts and replenished play fields from the second-story balcony.
The Upper Village expands the FCDS campus with classroom space for the third through eighth grades, new locker facilities for older students, teacher collaboration and meeting areas, and rooms dedicated to service & reception. The added classroom space will accommodate the carefully planned expansion of the Foothill County Day School student population from one to two classes per grade level. Currently, FCDS offers two classes in Kindergarten through Third Grade. Each year henceforward, the next higher grade will add a class until 2015-16, when a second eighth-grade class will complete the expansion.
